Rewind. Over the summer, I went on the best, greatest, most FANTASTIC vacation ever, and it was probably the best time of my life. I got a bunch of souvenirs to remember the trip by, including two rings. Well, one was a puzzle ring, which my mom lost when the doctors had to take it off to do surgery on my arm. The other was a celtic knot ring.
Fast forward a month or so. I'm sitting on a bench, waiting for my science lab, hoping someone would call. I'm fumbling with my remaining ring, taking it on and off, sliding it up and down my finger, twirling it. Not paying attention, the ring slips, falls. Down into the water drain you see before you.
I was crushed, okay?
Basically, this picture is for those of us who constantly lose things, whether it's socks in the dryer, rings in the drain, or hey, I just can't find my shtuff.
I can totally relate... I'm always doing things like that. It's crushing to lose things that are important to you, especially when you think "maybe if I just had payed closer attention..." or "If only I hadn't been fooling around..." I once dropped a sentimentally-valuable watch down a grate similar to this one. And recently I almost lost an important ring of mine when someone tried to steal it from me when I wasn't looking... I cried both times.
I like this picture because almost everyone can relate to seeing a sewer grate or a vent or a drain as some sort of memorabilia-munching monster. This picture has taken an ordinary sewage grate and given it the persona of a menacing creature that recklessly devours personal items. It almost looks like a mouth getting ready to gobble up another random object... nice work.
I've decided to this one! :cD
